After much anticipation, we’re thrilled to announce that our most-requested feature – Freedom for Android – is now available for download. Freedom for Android is now included in your Freedom Premium plan – making it easier than ever to block your digital distractions across all of your Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android devices.
BRINGING APP-BLOCKING TO ANDROID
We’re thrilled that Android will be rejoining the Freedom family once again. Freedom once had an Android app many years ago which we decided to scrap when consistent blocking became unfeasible with the current technology available.
However, we knew that this was not ideal as Freedom is most useful when you can sync your block sessions across all of your devices. So we began creating our own app for Android again from scratch. Many months of work later, we’re excited to bring app-blocking to Android with Freedom.
While we’re now out of Beta, we’re still collecting feedback and on the lookout for performance issues. You can share your thoughts and feedback about the Freedom app here.
USING FREEDOM FOR ANDROID
To get started using Freedom for Android – download it here. Once installed, sign into your Freedom account. After logging in, select which apps you wish to block and start a block session. For more help using Freedom for Android, check out this support doc or contact support at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Freedom for Android app currently works by blocking applications and notifications. It does not block individual websites quite yet – but that feature is in the works and coming soon!
