Finding The Freedom To Focus

Distractions can be one of the greatest hurdles when it comes to focusing on a task.

Something as simple as a dog barking or the sound of a bell can sidetrack you into a new train of thought.

We all have days when focusing seems like a challenge but for individuals with ADHD, this can be even more of a challenge. Lack of focus is one of the symptoms of ADHD and although focus may be a challenge, it’s not impossible.

Freedom App and ADHD

You can’t force focus, but you can cultivate an ideal physical and mental environment for it to thrive. The key lies in embracing and working alongside your ADHD, rather than against it.

We spoke with ADHD Coach Gloria Sherrod about How those with ADHD can Maximize their Productivity and Minimize Stress.

  1. Build a Routine
Establishing a structured routine is incredibly beneficial for keeping tasks organized and preventing the tendency to engage in unrelated activities, which can hinder productivity.
  1. Block Out Distractions
  • Find a quiet space to block out the hustle and bustle of the main areas.
  • Block out digital distractions with the Freedom App by combining productivity timers and customizable blocklists. Set up sessions that will automatically block particular websites, apps, and notifications within an allotted time; these can be pre-scheduled or created at the moment.
  • Many have also found earplugs, white noise or focus music to be helpful.
  1. Talk to a Coach
Working with an ADHD coach can be a huge help for building a routine and improving focus in ways that are comfortable for you if you are having trouble doing it on your own.

Hear From Our Users

Casey Dixon, a life coach who specializes in coaching adult professionals with ADHD shares insights on the advantages of utilizing the Freedom app:

“Freedom gives my clients the ability to manage their time and energy better by helping them to limit distractions, tangents, overly long breaks, or just plain work avoidance. It gives them more control over what they will do and when. It helps put them back in the driver’s seat so they can direct their own actions toward satisfying, efficient productivity.”

In a recent survey, one Freedom user testified to the benefits of using Freedom while studying at college:

“As a recent college graduate, I owe a lot of my success to Freedom. Throughout college, finding the motivation to get my work done was a constant challenge. And once I had found the motivation, being able to focus on one task at a time was nearly impossible. However, by using Freedom I was able to train myself to focus on the task at hand without being constantly distracted. It was especially helpful in keeping me focused during finals week, which is when my ADHD symptoms were at an all-time high due to the stress of final deadlines. By blocking my distractions with Freedom I was able to finish my college career on a high note.”
